Over 1000 prospective candidates turned out at the Newport Stevedoring Services Limited (NSSL) Job Fair, at the Girls Guide Headquarters in Kingston recently.

NSSL is a subsidiary of the Kingston Wharves Group of Companies established in 2017. NSSL workers function in a range of areas across the Kingston Wharves Group. They work as stevedores, which are the work teams responsible for on-loading and off-loading vessels as well as in yard and gate operations. They also function in warehouse and logistics, facilities management and other areas.

Denise Walcott-Samuels Group HR and Administration Manager explained that the job fair was aimed at identifying qualified persons who could fill positions as Kingston Wharves expanded its operations. Kingston Wharves is the Caribbean’s leading multi-purpose port terminal and provider of logistics services that operates a regional motor vehicle hub.

“The company is growing and expanding, and we are seeking to attract high quality candidates to join our team,” Ms. Walcott-Samuels stated.

The positions being sought included truck and car drivers, stacker operators, logistics coordinators, equipment operators, maintenance technicians, mechanics, dispatchers and security officers.

Ms. Samuels explained that at the Job Fair persons were screened and the best candidates would be contacted and invited for interviews at a later date.
