Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) is partnering with the Government of Jamaica in its hurricane relief effort in response to Hurricane Melissa, which has devastated sections of the Island. CEO Mark Williams disclosed that KWL was committed to supporting this critical national priority by leveraging its core competencies in port terminal operations, warehousing, logistics and communications to expedite the flow of essential aid to affected communities.
Kingston Wharves is facilitating the use of its Terminal for the berthing of vessels carrying relief supplies from the region and globally and providing an on-port transit warehouse for the storage of relief supplies, for later distribution by the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to their logistics warehouses at locations around the Island.
In addition, Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) has activated its in-house Call Centre to serve as a communication liaison for persons overseas seeking information on the relief effort in Jamaica. “Our call centre personnel have been equipped with the relevant information to guide callers on how to ship to Jamaica, the proper channels for donations, and to manage general inquiries,” Mr. Williams stated.
Kingston Wharves is also offering a 10% discount on shipments designated by the Jamaica Customs as disaster relief. Specifically, the discount applies to warehouse handling and stripping charges to individuals, companies and registered charities through to November 30, 2025.
“Our port facilities are the gateway for essential aid, and our logistics teams are working closely with government partners like the JDF to ensure supplies move quickly and efficiently from ship to community. We are fully committed to supporting the national effort, including relief, recovery, and rebuilding phases in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa,” the CEO stated.
